“Really?”, cries a baby hippo after a flock of birds lands on its back.

We have various reactions toward the same thing. It is understandable as each person has their perspective. This also happens in the world of animals, folks. While a baby elephant couldn’t be more eager to chase after and dance with a flock of birds, this baby rhino is fixated on the feathered companions. The youthful hippo was playing independently when a small flock of oxpeckers scooped down on its back. It tolerated the birds for about 10 seconds before he wanted to get them off. Notwithstanding, these oxpeckers would not leave. The entertaining story began!

The anxious calf hollered out for help when the oxpeckers started pecking at its back. It was terrifying. It attempted all means to scare off unwanted passengers. “I’m not kidding. You all stay away from me.”

The hippo ran and twisted its body around however they didn’t work. It even attempted fake running into the water to get the birds off. Thankfully, the birds soon gave up attempting to take care of and took off.

As you may be aware, oxpeckers and hippos usually have a mutually beneficial relationship. These birds help free hippos of ticks and other parasites by benefiting from them. Yet, this time, they aren’t invited by this baby hippo. It views these birds as annoying bugs and frantically attempts to fight off them.

Photographer Marc Mol captured These hilarious minutes at the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. He was concentrating on a case of hippos when he saw the baby hippo running toward him with the oxpeckers on its back.

“I was at first astonished as to what was going on, seeing this baby hippo running towards me and the safety of water, and then realized it was a small flock of Bull peckers that were the culprits. It was exceptionally amusing to observe,” Marc Mol said.

“I had a real laugh when I realized that I had captured something somewhat unique and yet exceptionally amusing, ” He added.
